Lane Twitchell

“Lane Twitchell, a Brooklyn-based artist, takes a highly distinctive approach to the issues of nature and culture, of architecture and space. His work explores nature using an idiosyncratic vocabulary of images and forms within historical and contemporary architectural spaces and elements found in the urban environment. Architectural ornaments, pediments, and cornices, often citing specific locations, are combined with motifs as disparate as flying birds, leering monkey faces, and cartoon-book plants and flowers […]. The work uses architectural forms as the structural frame for dozens of interlocking and juxtaposed motifs that fill the visual space and give it a nervous energy. The intricate cut patterns and motifs reveal themselves only after careful examination, the symmetry drawing the viewer’s eye toward the center.” – www.edwardtylernahemfineart.com
